Meet Alexis Sapp - owner and operator of ACA Counseling.
Alexis is a Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC and National Board Certified Counselor, NBCC. Her mission is to empower children, teens and their families to overcome personal obstacles and improve their quality of life. She is passionate about the impact of counseling during the childhood and adolescent years. Using clinically significant and evidence-based therapeutic interventions, Alexis has served children and teens in Central Alabama for over 15 years. Alexis utilizes a variety of treatment modalities during the counseling process. She most frequently employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Play Therapy, & Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and EMDR. She has a fervent belief that children today face a unique set of challenges and obstacles. As a mother, she can relate to the daily struggles of parents and children. Alexis strives to maintain a practice that guides families through both challenging and rewarding times in life. Mrs. Sapp is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. In addition, she is a graduate of the University of Montevallo where she earned a Master’s degree in Community Agency Counseling. Faith-based counseling is provided upon request.
Meet your counselor, Elizabeth Gross.
Elizabeth is Licensed Professional (LPC), a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), and a Nationally Board Certified Counselor (NBCC). She is a proud graduate of the University of Montevallo, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art and a Master’s degree in Couples, Marriage and Family Counseling. Elizabeth utilizes her art background to inform her counseling practice in creative ways. Throughout her career, Elizabeth has worked with diverse individuals, young adults, and families coping with anxiety, depression, grief, and substance abuse. Additionally, she is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Child-Parent Relational Therapy.
Elizabeth has a deep passion for children and families affected by trauma; she enjoys working with these individuals to celebrate strengths, repair attachment bonds, and to increase overall well-being. Elizabeth specializes in play therapy with children ages 3-12, and believes in the powerful benefits of play to build self-esteem, process feelings and experiences, and promote healthy development.
Meet your counselor, Lauren Packer
Lauren Packer M.S, ALC obtained a B.S in psychology from Birmingham- Southern College and a M.S in clinical mental health counseling from The University of West Alabama. Lauren utilizes a client-centered cognitive behavior approach with her clients as she feels that thoughts are the epicenter of behavior. Lauren specializes in trauma including grief with women, children and adolescents. Lauren is happily married and a mother of two. Lauren believes in the power of therapy and how it can spark the process of growing, evolving, and changing.
