Anne Sherman is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a graduate of the University of Montevallo, where she earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in social work. During her graduate program, Anne gained experience working with children, teens, and adults, addressing a variety of challenges.
She has experience working with individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, chronic health conditions, aggression, and survivors of sexual and physical abuse. Anne utilizes evidence-based approaches, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Play Therapy, and a humanistic approach tailored to meet each client’s unique needs.
Anne is passionate about working with children and prioritizes building strong therapeutic relationships. She believes in a collaborative partnership, recognizing that children are the experts on their own experiences. Her goal is to create a safe, consistent environment where children feel comfortable processing and working through life’s challenges.
Anne also incorporates a family systems approach, working with the family as a whole to create lasting change and strengthen connections. She is committed to equipping parents with the knowledge and support they need to help their children thrive. By fostering a space of trust and collaboration, Anne empowers children and families to grow and heal. Anne is happy to provide Faith-based therapy upon request.
