Brooke Bissell is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who is deeply committed to creating a safe, compassionate space where children, teens, and families feel seen, supported, and understood. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Samford University and has dedicated her career to walking alongside clients through life’s most challenging moments with care, empathy, and strength.
Brooke feels honored to support children, teens, and families as they navigate grief, serious illness, anxiety, depression, and the many emotional ups and downs of growing up. She primarily works with clients ages 5–18 and also brings specialized experience supporting families facing serious medical diagnoses through her work in inpatient hospital care.
Brooke has received advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through the Marsha Linehan Institute and Pediatric Palliative Care through Harvard University. She is also a certified Nurturing Parent Educator and integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT, and play therapy, while remaining firmly grounded in trauma-informed care.
Her work is rooted in a strong commitment to honoring all forms of identity and diversity. In sessions, clients can expect warmth, gentle humor, thoughtful exploration, and a genuine sense of care. Brooke considers it a privilege to be invited into a client’s world and is deeply grateful for the opportunity to support each individual and family on their journey.
Outside of ACA, Brooke enjoys reading and spending time with her family—including a very unusual cat who has nine toes on each paw!
