Sarah Knapp is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and an Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC). She has a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Minor in Neuroscience. She has experience working in the school counseling setting and has worked with a mix of ages between 4 and 21 for over 9 years.
Sarah has a special interest in children and teens affected by Anxiety, Depression, Autism, Domestic/Sexual Abuse, divorce, and school refusal. She is experienced in working with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) and is trained in exposure response therapy to effectively treat OCD. She is also skilled in helping families navigate the challenges of blended family transitions.
Sarah utilizes clinically significant and evidence-based counseling modalities such as Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Play Therapy techniques. Sarah also offers faith-based counseling if requested.
Sarah’s mission is to equip clients and families with the tools they need to pursue personal growth and healing. She is passionate about the role that psychoeducation plays in understanding the brain and body connection. Committed to meeting clients where they are, Sarah develops individualized treatment plans to best serve their needs, providing support and resources to help identify and reach treatment goals.
